Rev. Ben Wheeler is the Pastor of Redeemer. A Tyler native, he returned to his hometown after a 20 year absence in hopes of planting a church; those hopes were realized when Redeemer began in 2015.
Ben is a father of four, a grandad, and a widower. Rachel, his beloved wife, passed away suddenly in February of 2023 leaving a tremendous void in his life and the church. He is an avid outdoorsman and pretty happy doing almost anything outside. His desire is to see the Church continue to grow in knowing and loving its Redeemer.
Ben studied at Texas A&M University (BS, 96; MS, 98) and met Rachel when they both were working at summer camp in Leakey, TX. Following graduation, they lived in Oklahoma, then Kansas, where he worked in the food industry before moving to Dallas to attend Westminster Seminary (MDiv, 08). He then interned at two PCA churches and served as Assistant Pastor in South Texas before accepting the call at Redeemer.
